LONDON BRIDGE
Construction began on the London Bridge in 1176 when a stone structure was built to replace an old wooden one. Since then, just as this song says, the old London Bridge has fallen down and been rebuilt many times. The folk song depicting its long history of falling down was first sung in the 17th century. Folk songs are classic because they have been passed down for hundreds of years.
MARY HAD A LITTLE LAMB
The words of "Mary Had a Little Lamb" are those of a poem about a real life story of a lamb visiting school. It was written in the 1800's when there were little one-room schoolhouses in the country and children walked to school from their homes across the fields. Mary's home was probably a farm that had many animals, so it would be very easy for a lamb to follow her.
CAMPTOWN RACES
Liberace is a piano player from long go that was famous for always having a candelabra on his piano. Do you see it in the picture? Look at his arms lifting and dropping. While he plays it much faster, this is the same motion you make playing "Camptown Races".
